Pilot Schools

Thirty-two elementary schools have served as a pilot for this program within the last year.  We currently have 158 schools participating in the program, with additional schools beginning in the spring of 2013.  Principals and PE teachers alike are realizing tremendous benefits from this fun program as it enhances their efforts to emphasize the need for physical fitness in school and helps them join in the fight to reduce obesity in Alabama, particularly childhood obesity.

School administrators and physical education teachers are seeking ways to help students become better prepared to take part in the 2011 Alabama Physical Fitness Assessment Test, which will be given to their students in the coming year, which is anticipated to be approved by the Alabama State Board of Education soon.  They are seeking ways to help students become more physically fit, not only to prepare for the test, but also to fight the worrisome and severe obesity problem that Alabama faces. The Wee Can Fight ObesitySM program can serve as a tool in this effort.
