About the Program

Wee Can Fight Obesity Logo

The Alabama Sports Festival Foundation (ASF Foundation), in conjunction with the Alabama State Department of Education, Alabama State University, and the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness, has developed the Wee Can Fight ObesitySM program, which is administered by the ASF Foundation. This program provides a unique electronic, animated exercise program in PE classes to promote health, physical activity, and educational awareness. Its primary objective is to instill healthy lifestyle habits that may last a lifetime. This will significantly reduce obesity risk factors and enhance interest in personal health, movement related activities and sports.

School administrators and physical education teachers are seeking ways to help students become better prepared to take part in the 2012 Alabama Physical Fitness Assessment Test, which will be given to their students in the coming year, which has been approved by the Alabama State Board of Education.  They are seeking ways to help students become more physically fit, not only to prepare for the test, but also to fight the worrisome and severe obesity problem that Alabama faces. The Wee Can Fight ObesitySM program can serve as a tool in this effort.

Purpose of Study

This program is designed to assist the physical education instructor in engaging all students in quality activities that promote physical and academic growth via integrated technology.
